After seeing the problems people have to face due to the shortage of drinking water KTR Minister of the Municipal and Urban Development has launched a scheme to cater to the problem of the citizens of the state. In this free water supply scheme in Hyderabad, No water bills will be issued to domestic slum consumers in the city with effect from December 2020 under the 20,000 liters of free water supply scheme. Officials will not insist on the fixing of water meters, and slum residents’ consumption is measured using the water meters of slum dockets.

Free Drinking Water Supply Scheme 2021
Mr. Rao has launched the scheme and reached to people to ask whether the benefits of welfare schemes of the Telangana government had been reaching them, and handed them zero water bills or not. Also, Mr. Rao compared Hyderabad and Chennai where Chennai bring water in the state with the help of trains to fulfill demand, Hyderabad will make the availability of the water from Krishna and Godavari rivers and the state would not face any scarcity of water till the year 2048.
Rules For the Scheme
So within the scheme every household will get atleast 20,000 liters of water every month for zero cost but if you want free water then you need to fullfill two different conditions that we have mentioned below.
- The meter must be connected to the water.
- You need to link your CAN number with Aadhaar.
Those who do not have an Aadhaar linkage and meter should apply by March 31. So only those who will fulfill the conditions can only get the free water. December 2020 bill will also come under this scheme those who have completed the conditions will not have to pay the bill if they have used water under 20,000 liters and if they have increased the amount of water then they to pay accordingly. And this scheme is already operated in Delhi.
Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had promised the people for free water supply from December 2021. With the launch of the scheme on Tuesday, this promise stood fulfilled. The government would bear an expenditure of ₹400 crore to ₹500 crores towards it. He said the issues of power and water in the State had been taken care of.
